Ballymoney Rugby Football Club have progressed steadily from its humble beginnings in October 1952 to the present day as we approach our 50th birthday in 2002. Membership has grown, facilities have improved as has the standard of play. While reading club history it is apparent that some things never change. The interest and loyalty of a club stalwart called Billy Nichol who was there at the start and is still there every Monday night at selection and every Saturday at home games.

We have produced a mini rugby team that represented the Club at Landsdowne Road in a warm-up exhibition match before an International, youth players who have represented Ulster and one who was selected to play for Ireland, only to be thwarted through an unfortunate injury. Senior players have played for and captained the Junior Ulster side, two have gone on to play for the Senior Ulster side and one who played in the World Cup finals in Ireland. Not bad for a small junior Club!

The facilities at Ballymoney Rugby Club are the envy of many of our neighbours, with a compliment of three state-of-the-art sand mattress pitches and our own Club House with Changing and newly renovated Social accomodation. The Club House was opened on 17th April 1979 after a mammoth fund raising effort by members and the community at large.

Sport is a great denominator and our facilities can be used to make friendships between all creeds, colours and traditions. Ballymoney Rugby Club welcome all comers to our clubhouse where you can enjoy our newly refurbished facilities in a friendly atmosphere.
